God is Good.

God is so good
God is so good
God is so good
He's so good to me

He answers prayer
He answers prayer
He answers prayer
He's so good to me

Wednesday, my Daddy was out bike riding (road bicycle, not a motorcycle) with some friends from church. While going down a steep hill, my dad lost control going around a turn, crashed and flipped over into a ditch. He was in a ton of pain, complaining about his collarbone and back. His helmet was cracked.

He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and after Xrays, cat scans, and whatnot, we learned he broke Ribs 1 and 2 clear through (these are the ribs right below your collarbone. They count this as four ribs--both sides) and then another rib below those. His lung is bruised as well as some cuts and scrapes from his tumble.

Last night he was supposed to come home from the hospital but due to an irregular heartbeat, he was kept another night. An irregular heartbeat scared me, but a nurse friend (actually you kinda "know" her. She's "Miss Shirley" from my Smarties Addiction post). Anyways, she assured me that an irregular heartbeat was absolutely normal for someone who went through a trauma like he did.

They gave him some medicine and this afternoon they cleared him to come home! As I write this, he is sleeping on the lazyboy recliner.

I titled this post "God is Good" because my dad's accident could've been SO much worse. While he still has some really serious injuries, it could've been worse. Either way, we are to "rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, in EVERYTHING give THANKS for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

God is good all the time and all the time, God is good.

Prayers would be appreciated! You can specifically pray for...

  • Dad! Mr. Stoner. He has five broken ribs and is looking at a 4-6 weeks recovery! He (like most men) HATE sitting still and not being able to do anything. He's going to have a tough time taking it easy.
  • Momma! Mrs. Stoner. She is pretty stressed right now. The accident scared her and now she has to take care of him and us.
  • My siblings! It scared them a bit too and now they have to step it up to help out Momma.
  • Me! I leave for college the week of August 21st. I have lots of packing and such to get done and I have to get out there and get settled. This will all take place while Dad is still recovering.
I was actually gonna save this as a "Monday Meditations" post but this will be a "Friday Meditations" kinda post lol.

Just take time to thank God for EVERY circumstance in your life right now. They might not all be good, but they are all God's providence. God knows best. He's in control.
