The Youngs

Edward Young is the town doctor in Fairburn. His wife, Adelaide, is his nurse and assists Dr. Young at the clinic. The Youngs took Elsie, Hannah, and Jinger in for a few months while they tried to find a good home for the sisters. The Youngs are good friends of the O'Neals and have helped them out numerous times.

Oakley O'Neal

Oakley O'Neal is the only birth child of Paul and Lillian O'Neal.

Oakley was named after his grandfather, Oakley Rosenthal. He has strawberry blonde curls like his mother but dark eyes like his father.

Charles Wiggins

Charles Wiggins is Harold Wiggin’s nephew and a beau of Cassandra's.

Charles has long blonde hair and penetrating gray eyes. He is a tall man and an accomplished student. He was the manager at the hotel. He seemed to be polite and friendly but he was secretive. He seemed to be wary of people. He isn't a very open person. You could never be sure of what he was thinking.

Lillian O'Neal

Lillian Rose O'Neal is the daughter of Oakley and Caroline Rosenthal. 

History: 

Lillian lost her mother at age thirteen and Isabella became her new mother. Lillian has two siblings, both older than her, Benjamin and Lila.  Lillian met Paul when she was fifteen and they married when she was eighteen. 

Lillian was a school teacher for a short time when she and Paul were first married.  

Lillian always wanted children. Early on we learn that Lillian had a baby but the baby died.

Appearance:  

Lillian has long strawberry blonde locks that used to hang all the way down to her ankles. Now she has it trimmed to the length of her back. She has blue eyes a shade darker than the sky, a ready smile, and a kind heart.  

Personality: 

Lillian loves to work with children and loves to teach them new things.  Lillian is caring, compassionate, and understanding. She has a sixth sense when it comes to troubled people and she is always equipped with a hug and a prayer. She has a kind heart, but does have a short temper that she often can't control.

Paul O'Neal

Paul Fredrick O'Neal is the son of Jacob and Rebecca O’Neal.  

History: 

Paul completed school when he was sixteen years of age. At seventeen years old, Paul left his family and hometown and headed to the Black Hills. He got a mining job where he worked a few years before starting out as a lumberjack.  

Appearance:  

Paul has midnight black hair and a thick black beard. His eyes are small and dark colored but always friendly. He is tall and lean with big broad shoulders.  

Personality: 

Paul is a gentle giant and he loves his family He is friendly to everyone and likes to lend a helping hand when he can.  He can be very defensive of his family. He loves his wife dearly and if anyone does anything to harm her, he will make them wish they hadn't. He is a good man all his neighbors admire and look up to.  He can have a one-sided view on things and has a difficult time stepping in other's shoes. He's not a very good listener but he is calm and collected during stressful situations.

David "Davy" Carter

David "Davy" Carter is the second son of Jonathan and Eliza Carter.

Fifteen year old, Davy has black hair and snapping blue eyes. He likes to joke around and have fun. He loves a good party and loves to meet new people. Davy is easy-going and doesn't like to offend anyone. Although he does  like to entertain and tease people, he is a diligent boy who is maturing into a young man.

Caleb Carter

Caleb Carter is the son of Jonathan and Eliza Carter. 

History: 

Caleb is the oldest of two sons. His younger brother is Davy. Caleb grew up on the family farm. He learned how to become a hardworking farmer. He is sweet on Belle Hansen.

Appearance:  

Caleb has sandy blonde hair and light blue eyes. He is six foot two and broad shouldered. 

Personality:  

He is on the serious side but has a soft spot for children. Caleb is a good man who is used to working hard to get what he wants.

The Carters

Jonathan Carter is a neighbor of the Hansens. He lives on a farm near the Hansen farm. He lives with his wife Eliza and his two sons, Caleb and Davy. Jonathan has sandy hair and gray eyes. He's a short, thin man but honest and hard working. Eliza is petite with brilliant red hair and green eyes.

Nadia Hansen

Nadia is the fourteenth and final child of Zachariah and Alice Hansen. 

History: 
Nadia is only five years old. She never knew her parents. Alice referred to Nadia as her "Sweetheart" right before Alice passed away. 

Appearance: 
Nadia has Alice's flaxen blonde hair. She usually wears her hair back in one braid or hanging down. She has a contagious smile and shining blue eyes that could melt a stone heart. She is average height and size.  

Personality: 
Nadia is always a ray of sunshine for her family. She is a character; always managing to get her family to smile and laugh. She has her fair share of faults but she always tries to be better.

Megan Hansen

Megan "Pearl" Hansen is the thirteenth child of Zachariah and Alice Hansen. 

History: 
Megan is seven years old and Alice nicknamed her "Pearl" because Alice loved pearls and the name Megan means pearl.  

   

Appearance: 
Megan has the signature chocolate brown hair but hers is the darkest. Her eyes are big as well as her smile. Megan is short and petite.  

Personality: 
Megan is a tomboy like Danielle is. She loves to be outside and to play games. She is a curious and inquisitive person. Megan is often forgetful and loses focus quickly but she means well. 

Lynn Hansen

Lynn "Pixie" Hansen is the twelfth child of Zachariah and Alice. 

History: 

Lynn is eight years old. Alice gave Lynn the nickname of Pixie because Lynn always loved listening to stories involving fairies and pixies. 

Appearance: 

Lynn has soft chocolate hair that she wears in braids. She has bright chocolate eyes.  

Personality:  

Lynn is friendly and considerate. She easily cooperates with others and she loves to help out. She wants to be just like her older sisters. Lynn has a sweet spirit and is easy to love and appreciate.

Kenneth "Kenny" Hansen

Kenneth "Kenny" is eleventh child of Zachariah and Alice Hansen. 

Kenny is nine years old. He was named after his Mother's maiden name "Kenneth". He prefers to go by Kenny. Kenny has short chocolate hair and steady brown eyes. He is short and thin. Kenny is feisty and a hard worker. He looks up to his brothers and does his best to be just like them.

Jinger Hansen

Jinger "Lily" Hansen is the tenth child of Zachariah and Alice Hansen.

History: 
She is the eleven year old twin of Isaac. Alice nicknamed Jinger "Lily" because the day Jinger was born, a group of lilies bloomed near the Hansen cabin.

Appearance: 
Jinger has the signature Hansen hair that she plaits in pigtails. She has a sweet smile and kind eyes.

Personality: 
Jinger is quiet and unsure. She enjoys attention when her older siblings offer it to her. She likes to help out and wants to be a better sister every day.

Isaac Hansen

Isaac Hansen is the ninth child of Zachariah and Alice Hansen.

He is eleven years old and twins with Jinger. Isaac is lanky and has shaggy chocolate brown hair and big eyes. Isaac is soft spoken and considerate. Unlike his brothers, he likes to keep quiet and not be rowdy or rambunctious. He hardly ever voices his opinion and often his brothers talk right over him and forget about him but Isaac doesn't like attention so he doesn't mind. Although Isaac is often forgot, he never forgets about his siblings. He likes to make his siblings feel important and feel happy.

Hannah Hansen

Hannah "Dove" Hansen is the eighth child of Zachariah and Alice Hansen. 

History: Hannah is twelve years old. Alice nicknamed Hannah "Dove" because of Hannah's quiet and gentle nature.

Appearance: Hannah has just-below-the-shoulder length chocolate hair that she normally wears in pigtails. She has the dark chocolate eyes just like most of her siblings. Hannah is average height and thin in stature. 

Personality: Hannah is gentle and sweet but she can be strong-headed and she doesn't like when unexpected things happen. She is similar to Belle in how they both don't like change. 

Gideon Hansen

Gideon Hansen is the seventh child of Zachariah and Alice Hansen.

Thirteen year old Gideon has short chocolate hair that hangs over his forehead. He has small dark eyes and thin eyebrows. Gideon hasn't had his growth spurt yet and his body is stocky. Gideon looks up to Albert greatly and he does his very best to be just like him. Gideon works hard on the farm and he loves to work with the animals.

Faith Hansen

Faith "Rosie" Hansen is the sixth child of Zachariah and Alice Hansen. She is Elsie's twin.  

History:
Faith is fourteen years old. Alice nicknamed Faith "Rosie" because Faith loved roses when she was little and she still does today. Faith loves to watch the roses grow and bloom into their bright red flowers. 

Appearance:  

She has long chocolate brown hair that she wears in a loose bun. She has dark brown eyes and is just an inch shorter than Elsie.  

Personality: 

 Faith is on the quiet side. She does her chores and helps out willingly without being asking. Faith aims to please. Faith enjoys reading books and you can often find her curled up in a corner somewhere reading her latest book.

Elsie Hansen

Elsie "Sunlight" Hansen is the fifth child of Zachariah and Alice Hansen.

History: 

Elsie is the older twin of Faith. She is fourteen years old. Alice nicknamed Elsie "Sunlight" because of her bright personality. 

Appearance: 

Elsie has the Hansen chocolate colored hair and dark brown eyes. She usually wears her hair in a barrette at the back of her head with some hanging down to her shoulders.   

Personality:  

Elsie is always the most excited Hansen and she is eager to try new things. She loves to help out around the house and wants to do better and learn as much as she can from her older sisters.
