{Monday Meditations} John 3:16 (1)

On Christmas Day this past year, my Pastor preached from what I would dare to say the most famous verse in the Bible: John 3:16.

He provided five simple thoughts from the verse and tied it in with a song. I'd like to share these points and song lyrics with you over the next few weeks :)

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

1. The Love of God.

Song: "O Love of God"
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain:
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

I've sang this song numerous times at my church. It's such a lovely song with such beautiful lyrics :) It paints an amazing picture of God and the vastness of His love.

This is the version I found when doing a quick YouTube search.
If you're new to the song and want to hear how it sounds, you can check this out :)
